Charanga Sensación de Rolando Valdés is a legendary Cuban charanga band founded by maestro Rolando Valdés in 1953. Born from a vision to create a band with better pay and treatment for musicians, the group became synonymous with the golden era of Cuban music, pioneering the cha-cha-chá sound and performing for both high society and humble barrio crowds. After the Cuban revolution, Valdés relocated to the U.S., reviving the band as Charanga Sensación in Miami and later in New York, where they recorded with Ansonia Records. Known for hits like “Mi Sazón,” their music seamlessly blends authentic Cuban charanga with the bold energy of 1970s salsa, embodying Afro-Caribbean cultural flow and living up to their name: a sensation like no other.
